Setting up your utilities is one of those tasks that no one thinks about doing ahead of time. But, it is crucial, especially if you want everything working the day you move in. To be sure, have all of the utilities start on the day of closing.
You will want to call each service provider and place the service in your name thereby assuming financial responsibility or have the service installed if it doesn't already exist at the property. For TV, internet, phone service, you are encouraged to research the different services available in the Anchorage area and consider any bundling options as they can often save you money especially if you add in your cell phone service. If you are buying in a condo building, check with the homeowner's association or property management company to see if either cable or internet are included in your association fee. If not, find out if there is a certain provider you have to use or if you can use whomever you’d like.
